And Our Gingerbread House Is a House No More!

... but it sure tastes good. Miles and I have been attacking the gingerbread house all day. It is down 1.5 roof tiles, with just a few walls to go.

Happy New Years to all family, friends, and foes. 2006 was good, and I expect 2007 will be even better!

We had a quiet New Years party with Miles and Adri and Mark's parents. We rang in 2007 with Dick Clark, Superman Returns, and a bunch of good food: I made a chocolate truffle cake and a Greek salad, and bought Greek dips from Parthenon. It was nice and low-key.

The past couple of days I've been cleaning and de-Chrismafying the house. It feels good. I also arranged for display an old Singer sewing machine from the 1930s given me by my mom. It's really quite beautiful, with an intricate design - red, green and gold paint - along the bottom and sides. The Xmas tree has been abandoned, as is my way, in the fire-lane behind the commonsblock.

I've also been busy reading for the upcoming semester, tackling Obasan, Othello, and Deleuze and Guattari in one fell swoop. I should start reading my course readings... I plan to visit the bookstore sometimes this week.
